Karl brings extensive knowledge in global renewable energy applications to the company. Prior to co-founding SunPeak, he worked extensively in more mature solar markets abroad and is credited with the development of more than 2,000 MW of solar installation throughout Europe and Asia. He has held executive and ownership roles in several closely-held renewable energy companies worldwide including HUBSTA GmbH, For Shine Co. Ltd., PVG Group, Plan E Kommanditgesellschaft, and CBI GmbH. In addition to solar and wind experience, he also led BIOFerm GmbH, a major developer of anaerobic digesters, a technology that converts unwanted agricultural and food waste into electricity by capturing methane gas.
As Executive Vice President for SunPeak, Karl leads the overall organizational strategy as well as project financing structures and global procurement. He travels regularly to support SunPeak’s supplier relationships and oversees quality assurance for all system components. Karl is a key technical resource throughout the organization and greatly enjoys supporting our business development, project development and execution teams. His keen focus on quality execution has been instrumental to SunPeak’s success.
Karl was educated at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Frankfurt, Germany, where he earned degrees in banking and bank management. His early career included more than a decade as an investment banker with Deutsche Bank. He later served part-time as a senior finance expert, advisor, lecturer and trainer for the same institution.
