Glacier Transit Adds Solar Power

Glacier Transit & Storage has begun adding 2,112 solar panels to one of its Plymouth warehouses.

The 560KW solar system will be installed at a 170,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse and will produce 32 percent of Glacier's electrical needs, according to a news release from SunPeak, which is handling the installation.

The family owned company focuses primarily on food warehousing and transportation and says the project is aimed at lowering its electricity costs and reducing its environmental footprint.

“We want to demonstrate our established reputation as being a leader in the industry. Not only do we continue to find ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the supply chain, but more importantly we are taking the initiative to keep our environment clean and sustainable by utilizing renewable
energy, ”said company President Kyle Nothem, in a news release.
